In Conversation with Verena Garcia, Founder of Mothermoon Spa

It’s this very idea that inspired Verena Garcia to create Mothermoon Spa: a space dedicated to caring for mothers through pregnancy, postpartum and beyond.
We sat down with Verena to talk about the inspiration behind Mothermoon, giving ourselves permission to do less, and a few of the local brands she genuinely loves for pregnancy and postpartum.
Motherhood is one of life's biggest transitions, yet so much of the focus naturally shifts to the baby. What inspired you to create a space dedicated to caring for mothers, too?
I created Mothermoon because I kept noticing how quickly a mother becomes invisible the moment she becomes a mother. Every appointment, every gift, every "how are you" is really about the baby. The name itself is meant to flip that: like a honeymoon or a babymoon, a "mothermoon" is meant to celebrate and care for her specifically. I wanted to build a space where the mother herself is the one being held, nourished, and asked about, not as an afterthought, but as the whole point.
The postpartum period can be both beautiful and incredibly demanding. What’s one thing you wish every new parent gave themselves permission to do during this season?
Permission to do less than they think they should. The postpartum season isn't a productivity test. I wish every new parent let themselves rest before the house is clean, ask for help before they're running on fumes, and trust that their only job is healing and bonding. Everything else can wait.
